NATURE + ART + FOOD = A VISIT TO LAMMA ISLAND!

PART A

Nature and artistry are always the best antidotes to the anxieties and pressure of hectic urban living. Let us explore a remote corner of Lamma Island and discover a more aesthetic and spiritual way of life…

1. Visit Ophelia’s herbal and veggie patch
2. A 25-minute stroll through the countryside to the beach home of Albert Ka Hing Liu, an experienced art educator and international artist.
3.

Come join this Harvard- and Cambridge- educated artist as he guides us step by step, and interactively, through a heightened appreciation of the aesthetic and the sensual. An evening of animated discussion, art and roof-top cinema!

His Art Appreciation seminars are provocatively titled, Food for the Soul: Painting as a Spiritual Discipline.

4. We will also make and enjoy an organic light dinner together with ingredients from Ophelia’s home-grown herbal and veggie patch!

Date & Time: Saturday 7 January 2017
2pm to 6:30pm
(1:15pm from Aberdeen Pier)

Additional details will be provided. Discussions are suitable for English / Cantonese speakers. Cost, inclusive of the organic light dinner and drinks: HK$680@ (for our active VIP and their guests) HK$730@

Please wear comfortable shoes and a hat. And bring sunscreen.

PART B

1. Albert will first bring us to either an auction house or an art gallery or museum.
2.

Here in Part B, he will continue to guide us step-by-step, and interactively, through a heightened appreciation of the aesthetic and the sensual: One important difference this time: We will be in front of real works of art!

As his Art Appreciation seminars are titled, Food for the Soul: Painting as a Spiritual Discipline, we will explore how institutional and capitalist contexts may affect the spirit of art.

Optional: We can then share a taxi (at each participant’s own expense) to the pier and take the public ferry to Sok Ku Wan on Lamma Island.

3.

We will have lunch, mainly vegetarian, at a historical, scenic and blissfully less commercial seafood restaurant. For those who drink, we can share a bottle of biodynamic wine.

Date & Time: Saturday 14 January 2017
10:30am to 11:20am (Art Visit)
Lunch at Sok Ku Wan until 2:30pm

Additional details on where to meet will be provided. Discussions are suitable for English / Cantonese speakers.

Cost for the Art Visit will be FREE for participants who have joined PART A! Otherwise, $300@ for the Art Visit.

Travel and lunch at participant’s own expense / by sharing the bill.
